PATIENT CARE
As the health care industry has evolved newer methods of care and prevention have been introduced into the health care system. Medical researchers have known for years that infection control was vital to their safety and as a result patient care providers now implement many of these control protocols into their environments.
Infectious patients are treated in dedicated patient isolation rooms at most hospitals to contain their infections. These rooms are under negative pressure and have air exhaust systems usually filtered with HEPA filtration.
Con-Test provides many services including changing exhaust HEPA filters in their containment housings. We inventory most of the filter sizes and can respond quickly. Containment housings can either be decontaminated before the filter change out or be serviced using a "bag in / bag out" system if provided.
Immuno-compromised patients are also cared for in dedicated patient isolation rooms. These patients require positive pressure rooms, supplied with HEPA filtered air.
Con-Test can test these rooms to confirm performance. These tests include: HEPA filter integrity tests, Airflow volume and/or velocity measurement, room air exchange rates, room pressure differentials, airflow visualization and particle count classification to appropriate cleanliness levels.
New filter housing installations can be pressure tested if required.
Patient rooms often have minimum air exchange rate requirements. Con-Test can establish a regular schedule of service to measure the air supply and air change rates for all patient care areas.
